Having a midwife’s understanding and supportive care during my son’s birth was so impactful. I am forever grateful for all the supportive professionals that helped me during this time of my life. I hope as a CNM I will be able to provide the same support and encouragement to many more women during this important time for them and their family.
Rebekah grew up in southern Oklahoma and currently resides in Dallas with her husband and son. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree at Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Human Development and Family Services . She continued her education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Baylor University , and a Masters of Science in Nursing (Certified Nurse Midwife) at Frontier Nursing University . During her time at OSU, Rebekah had the opportunity to travel to India for a maternal health internship focused on improving maternal mortality. This cultivated and continues to influence her desire to contribute to the improvement of women’s health here in the United States and abroad.
While at Frontier Nursing University, she completed a semester of student-midwife training here at Allen Birthing Center. She spent time in clinic with both prenatal and well-woman clients, attended births, and assisted in postpartum recoveries. It was a great experience for everyone involved, and we are excited to have her as a permanent member of the staff.
I believe that access to good women’s health services is vital for healthy women, families, and communities. A woman’s ability to control the number of children she has with family planning, her childbirth experiences, and her continued health throughout the lifespan helps her in meeting goals, staying healthy, and increasing her independence and confidence in her everyday life. I have been dedicated to becoming a successful and capable healthcare provider since 2007 by working in many different areas surrounding women’s health. From my internship in India, to being a doula and childbirth educator, to working as a labor and delivery nurse; and to now becoming a CNM in an out of hospital environment at Allen Birthing Center, I feel so blessed with the opportunity to care and serve the women and families that trust us with one of the most impactful and important times in their lives.
