More than 92% of mothers who choose Allen Birthing Center deliver healthy, happy babies at the center. However, from time-to-time, situations arise during labor and childbirth that are best handled in a hospital environment.
In the state of Texas, both hospitals and birth centers are licensed by the Texas Department of Health Services. While we are not partners of any hospitals, we do have wonderful, trusting relationships with a number of groups, should hospitalization become necessary at any point during your care. We maintain collaborative relationships with consulting allopathic physicians, Drs. Lawrence and Brock Pierce. In the event of a transfer of care during labor, your CNM will be able to continue your care at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney or Centennial Frisco. We one of few birth centers in the DFW area that maintains hospital privileges, and were the first to offer this. This continuity of care helps bring peace of mind to our clients and simplifies the transfer.
In the event of an emergency, you will be transferred to the closest hospital, which is located a few minutes from our facility, with emergency transport two blocks away. Should transfer to a medical physician or hospital care become necessary, your health records will be made available to the receiving provider/facility.
In the event of a transfer to the hospital, any services provided by the hospital, a physician, an anesthesiologist, a pediatrician, or any CNM from Allen Birthing Center at the hospital will be billed separately after the birth. These are unforeseen costs and are not included in the normal birth center package.
