Lana Amelia Giles, CNM

With more than 10 years of experience in health care, Amy (as she prefers to be called) is a warm, intelligent, and energetic staff Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) at Allen Birthing Center. While she values her initial exposure to operating room nursing prior to going into the field of women’s health, Amy is excited to be working now where her heart is! With hundreds of births at homes, birth centers, and hospitals to her credit, Amy is experienced in both routine and crisis situations.

Amy’s educational preparation is thorough. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. In addition to certification in midwifery, she also has post-graduate certification as a women’s health care nurse practitioner. Her excellent clinical skills coupled with her academic achievements led to her being one of the youngest faculty members teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Texas Woman’s University. Allen Birthing Center is honored to have her on staff.

Amy also provides a unique perspective to the team of midwives. Not only has she had 2 midwifery-attended births herself, but she also has been a client of Allen Birthing Center! Amy believes that her midwifery-managed births provided her with an unparalleled feeling of security and peace as well as a sense of empowerment as a woman. She inspires women to trust themselves to birth joyously as well.
